Statement from:

His Excellency Alexander Williams
High Commissioner for Jamaica

Regarding Hurricane Melissa donations

The High Commission of Jamaica has ended its initiative for the collection of donations
for the Hurricane Melissa relief effort.
We extend heartfelt appreciation to the Jamaican Diaspora and Friends of Jamaica for the
unwavering solidarity shown in the aftermath of the Hurricane. Your compassion,
generosity, and steadfast commitment continue to reflect the very best of our national
spirit.
As recovery efforts progress, the Government of Jamaica has now moved into the next
critical phase of the Hurricane Melissa Relief Programme. This stage places focused
attention on fund-raising and the rebuilding of homes, community infrastructure, and
essential services in the most affected Parishes. The needs remain significant, but so too
does the determination of our people and the strength of our global Jamaican family.
We are encouraged by the outpouring of support already received from individuals,
community organisations, churches, and philanthropic partners across the Diaspora.
Your contributions, whether financial, material, or through advocacy, are helping to
restore stability and hope to families whose lives were disrupted by the storm.
The High Commission will continue to provide updates on priority areas, approved
donation channels, and opportunities for coordinated assistance. We urge all who wish
to support to continue do so through the office website www.supportjamaica.gov.jm to
ensure transparency, accountability, and the effective delivery of aid.
Persons on their own initiatives may continue to make donations to registered charitable
organisation in Jamaica to support the ongoing relief effort. Information on donations to
registered charities can be viewed at: https://jca.gov.jm/business/donations-charities/.
Together, we will rebuild stronger, with resilience rooted in unity, compassion, and the
enduring spirit of One Love.
