Histories, Legacies and Perspectives Conference
Press Release & Photos – Jamaican High Commission
Message from the chair
I am sure you will be pleased to know that the Wells and Transatlantic Slavery: Histories, Legacies and Perspectives Conference was a huge success.
Well done to the Wells and Transatlantic Slavery Working Group for all their hard work in organising the event.
I am sharing this press release and some photos from the day.
Thank you very much to those of you who attended the conference and also thank you to those people who promoted the event.
A special thanks to SACN’s conference volunteers Jean Harper and Sharon Stafford who did a great job in helping to set up the room and look after people who attended the conference.
Unfortunately, the High Commissioner of Antigua and the representative from the Jamaican High Commission were unable to attend. There was a rail strike and other unforeseeable reasons why they could not attend. The Jamaican High Commission has sent a letter to acknowledge the importance of the conference. Please find attached.
For more information about the conference and the project, please visit the project’s website www.wellsandtransatlanticslavery.com.
Kind regards,
Susann Savidge
